Hola girls & boys,

My name is Katie (full name given at birth: Kathryn.) I am a 23 year old recent college grad (holy cow, its been over a year. Dear time, please stop) from the University of Virginia. I recently started a new big girl job and even more recently moved into a new apartment with my boyfriend, William. We live in Arlington, VA (just 5 minutes outside of DC.)

I am a self proclaimed girlie girl; I love all things sparkly and pink. I have been a dancer my whole life, dancing competitively for a studio in middle/high school and on UVA’s dance team. I recently started an HR job that will involve me traveling throughout the U.S quite a bit. I love spending time with the people close to me. I love celebrity gossip. I love going to sporting events. I love wine. I love food. I love dark chocolate. I love all cheese. I love beer. I love how I feel after a good workout. I love going on vacations. I love reading foodie blogs. I love reading fashion blogs. I love Love. I love life.

Throughout my years in college, my girlfriends and I would joke that being irresponsible was acceptable, because we were “not real people” yet. The real world seemed far away at the time. For example, go out on a Tuesday and miss your 9am Wednesday class, that’s okay, you’re not a real person. Eat a roll of cookie dough instead of eating a proper dinner, that’s okay, you’re not a real person. Spend your grocery money on a new dress, once again, that’s okay, you’re not a real person.
I should throw a disclaimer in here that although we had our “not real” moments, we are all doing pretty well for ourselves. You see “not being real” moments only happen on occasion. You still have to take good care of yourself, and do what you need to do to be successful and healthy. We all understood that.

I have gone by Katie all my life and it seems like such a little girl name to me. I would jokingly ask, at what point am I considered a real person and need to go by Kathryn? Now realistically, I will probably always go by Katie. I am hoping this blog will help document my journeys into becoming what I call a “real person.” I love food, and am slowly learning how to cook. I’m really enjoying trying out new recipes I have found from the blog world. (There have been several mishaps as well.) I’m looking forward to sharing my attempts at becoming domesticated, especially in the kitchen. William and I are transitioning into this living together thing, so it will be fun to document our shenanigans. My new big girl job involves a pretty large amount of travel, so those adventures will be shared as well. I hope you enjoy reading, and please feel free to shoot me an email!
